Shmevviíh Se (Shmev /ˈviɪ̞/ [puddle] [list; catalog]) is a subtropical Large Town located in the Iēibonjām Region of the Tetbur Commune.

The name Shmevviíh Se is derived from the Tauric language, as Shmevviíh Se was founded by Glêbrê Pughes, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Shmevviíh Se has a yearly average temperature of 29°C (84°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a hot 32°C (89°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a warm 27°C (80°F). Shmevviíh Se receives an average of 266 cm/y (104 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Shmevviíh Se covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 1524 m (5000 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Shmevviíh Se was founded in time immemorial, reportedly some time durring the early 7th century, by Glêbrê Pughes. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Shmevviíh Se was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the early 7th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Shmevviíh Se is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Shmevviíh Se is buildings are arranged arrounded highly ordered system of restrictive paverstone streets which form octogonal paterns, allowing the incides of the octagons to be common grounds for the buildings on the edges, be it for parkland, yardspace, plazas, or markets. The town has a defencive wall made from querried stone. The wall is equipped with a full set of battlments but the nature of its construction methodology leaves it somewhat vulnerable to siege equipment. That said, the town is well defended against anything short of an army. Astonishigly, the cost-cutting-focused defences are in pristine condishion, as if they had just been finished before you laied eyes upon them.

Right off the bat Shmevviíh Se hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Many of those buildings are schools, scriptoriums, and even one college. One can only wonder what knowledge the town has come into.

Civic Infrastructure

Shmevviíh Se has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Shmevviíh Se. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Shmevviíh Se's parks.

Shmevviíh Se has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Shmevviíh Se.

Shmevviíh Se has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Shmevviíh Se has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Shmevviíh Se has an Theological Academy which trains clergy in various arcane and theological topics required for their occupations.

Shmevviíh Se possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Large Town. Shmevviíh Se's grid is powered by a boiler and turbine based power plant.

Shmevviíh Se has a first rate hospital which caters to anyone in need of long term medical care.

Shmevviíh Se has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Shmevviíh Se's natural decorations nor waterways.

Shmevviíh Se has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.

Shmevviíh Se has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Shmevviíh Se has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Shmevviíh Se's locals despise outsiders. For some “outsiders” may be natives of foreign lands, while others might have a grudge against anyone from outside the community. These locals have an active loathing, and the outsiders allowed to trade or interact with them do so at a heavy disadvantage.

Shmevviíh Se's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by order, symmetry, formal design, grandiosity, and elaborate ornamentation. Architectural characteristics include balustrades, balconies, columns, cornices, pilasters, and triangular pediments. Stone exteriors are massive and grandiose in their symmetry; interiors are typically polished and lavishly decorated with sculptures, swags, medallions, flowers, and shields.
